I recently reviewed ESET ActiveBIOS for Linux and it performed very well. I gave ESET a rating of 5 out of 5 and recommend it highly. Then one day it became my task to review ESET Internet Security on Windows and Linux. Why Windows/Linux Well, I use a Mac to build Mac software. I use Linux to create Linux software. When it came to scanning for viruses, ESET Internet Security had been my go to all along. ESET stated that theres much overlap in the way the two operating systems scan. I tend to agree. If you are running one platform then you usually can use the same software on that platform. If you have both running, you can switch the software easily.
ESET didnt have to specify that ESET Internet Security would work on Linux or Windows. ESET figured I would run both platforms. ESET features application specific scanning: ESET Internet Security scans the ones that you run and goes after the ones that you dont. ESET Internet Security can scan e-mail, chat, web browsing, etc. Right off the bat, ESET Internet Security will scan and attempt to remove spyware. ESET ActiveBIOS for Linux focuses on malware, spyware, rootkits, adware, and browser exploit software. ESET Internet Security focuses on the same threats plus Trojans, worms, and keyloggers. ESET Internet Security lets you scan single files, whole folders, the whole computer, and Internet traffic as well. No matter how you choose to scan, ESET Internet Security will be configured for you.
Once ESET installed, I was ready to get scanning. These scans were very fast. The only thing I ran into was a bug in the web proxy authentication for ESET Web Security. This was fixed quickly and I could get back to running my tests. 3d9ccd7d82
